Ten-year-old Mariah is a very funny little girl; she just loves to make everyone laugh. She’s also quite an artist with a talent for drawing. Mariah collects rocks and even paints on them! One of her favorite activities is cheerleading and Mariah’s best friend is her bunny named Little Lou.
At four years old, Mariah was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, which is an inherited disease of the mucus glands that affects many body systems. This disease causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the organs and leads to life-threatening infections. This condition also obstructs the pancreas, stopping natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. There is no cure for CF, and lung transplantation is often necessary as CF worsens. At this point, Mariah suffers sinus infections and terrible headaches. She has a low energy level and must take enzymes while eating.
Mariah just adores her new computer and loves to surf the internet.
