David has experienced multiple lengthy hospital stays in the last few years as a result of his Crohn’s Disease. During these hospitalizations, David is placed on TPN and can only receive nutrition through an IV; he is very hungry often. He is also subjected to multiple scans, special IV’s and invasive procedures. His time in the hospital has caused him to miss many days of classes – his senior year of high school. He is unable to participate in extracurricular activities and time with friends. He is always in a cheerful mood and doesn’t let anything get him down. David is a prime example of a HERO as he copes with this lifestyle in such a graceful manner!
