Brendan was diagnosed with spina bifida before he was born. Brendan’s condition began in the womb when his spinal cord did not close properly, causing nerve damage. He also has hydrocephalus, which is an accumulation of spinal fluid in his brain. A shunt that was surgically implanted to divert the fluid has unfortunately malfunctioned several times, resulting in multiple surgeries. This brave little guy had endured 10 operations by the time he was three years old, and now relies on a wheelchair for mobility at school.
Brendan was surprised to find a limousine waiting to whisk him off to receive his Playstation at the a local store. It was there that Brendan’s wish finally came true; he was handed his very own, brand new Playstation II game system along with the very popular “Guitar Hero” game. After the big wish, Brendan got to enjoy yet another limo ride to the Texas Roadhouse where he was treated to a huge lunch in his honor! What a day!
Now that he’s gotten his Playstation home, he just can’t wait to get home from school just to play on it. In every way, Brendan’s wish came true, making him, quite possibly, the happiest kid in Kalamazoo!
