China Township, MI – Five-year-old Alexis of China Township is an incredibly happy little girl with a sweet disposition. This cheerful girl is absolutely crazy about music and especially loves listening to Disney songs. Alexis also enjoys watching The Wiggles on television and playing with her toy bears.
Alexis has epilepsy. Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by seizures. Alexis has suffered from frequent seizures most of her young life and is on medications that her doctors hope will control the severity and frequency of the seizures. The condition has left Alexis unable to speak although she can communicate through sign language.
After all that Alexis has been through, it was no surprise that when Kids Wish Network, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, contacted one of her relatives for a donation, it was Alexis that came to mind. Alexis’ name was submitted to the organization and soon, her mother, Denise, received the good news: Alexis was eligible for a wish.
Alexis knew just what she wanted for her wish: she wanted to go to Disney World.
Kids Wish Network wish coordinator, Vanessa, took care of all of the details, including airfare, hotel accomodations, theme park tickets, meals and more. Before she knew it, Alexis was headed to Florida.
Alexis took full advantage of everything that Vanessa had planned for her; there was certainly no shortage of things to do. Alexis visited just about every park she could, including MGM Studios, Sea World, Epcot, the Animal Kingdom and of course, the Magic Kingdom where she got to hobnob with some of her favorite Disney characters in person.
In addition, Vanessa secured passes to Wonderworks, Orlando’s famous ‘upside-down’ museum. And for her final night in Florida, Vanessa made reservations for the family at the Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater.
The entire family was tremendously grateful to Vanessa and Kids Wish Network for making Alexis’ wish experience one she will always remember. This special little girl learned that sometimes, dreams really do come true.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Alexis’ wish extra special: AirTran Airways, Bennigan’s, Blue Water Auxiliary, CiCi’s Pizza, Compassion Program, F.O.E. Blue Water Aerie No. 3702, Mrs. Miller’s 2nd Grade Class at Twin Lake Elementary, Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater, the Royal Plaza Hotel, Wal-Mart, Women’s Life Club 11, Women’s Life Insurance Society and Wonderworks.
