Name: Christopher
Age: 17
State: North Dakota

Christopher was admitted to the hospital for an extensive surgery on his airway. He was here in our pediatric unit with his parents when all of a sudden he began to hemorrhage from the back of his throat. The rapid response team was called immediately they along with his nurse held ice to his neck and started ice gargles, bleeding stopped after a large blood loss. He then was taken back to surgery to stop an arterial bleed.
Parents remained calm thru out the episode and assisted staff to stabilize their son. This emergency required a lot of quick response, calmness and the family support all of which were demonstrated. We feel Christopher deserves this award.
